About James Barbour-Smith
James is a member of the portfolio management team and works alongside investee company managers in dealing with the key commercial and financial aspects of the business to enhance the value of an investment and to focus on profitable exits. This is achieved through regular meetings with key executives, ongoing reviews of management reports and through the participation of the team as non-executive directors on the boards of investee companies.
Since joining Gresham in 1998 he has been involved in over 36 exits as well as working closely with the new deal team. His current projects include the internationalisation of Swift and 7city.
Before joining Gresham, he was with Lloyds Development Capital, also on portfolio management. James has lectured for the BVCA on managing investments. He is a Law graduate from Aberdeen University and qualified as an accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
